Emily Hume

Emily is the Director at CCDC, and she started in August of 2013. She has worked with children for 15 years, mostly as a public school teacher in NC. Emily holds a Master’s Degree as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. In her spare time, Emily likes to paint & draw, take walks, read, travel, and participate in local theatre productions! She lives with her son, Atticus, as well as a dog named Abby and a cat named Aiden. Emily loves working with children because they say the funniest and sweetest things, and they’re always honest! She loves working just down the hall from her own little one, but if Emily didn’t work with children she would be a Broadway Star!

If Emily were an animal, she would be an Eagle because she would like to be able to fly!

Tammy Sherman

Tammy works primarily with Toddlers and Infants, but she has been known to pitch in wherever she is needed! She started working at CCDC all the way back in April of 2002! Tammy has been working with children for 15 years, and holds both a CDA and an Associate’s Degree in Science from Keystone College. In her spare time, Tammy likes to take walks, ride four-wheelers, and listen to music. She has three girls at home along with her husband, two dogs, and some fish! Tammy loves working with children because she likes watching them learn and grow. She feels that being a teacher is more than just a job – it’s a special career to be a part of a child’s life! If she weren’t working with children, Tammy would like to be a florist or a counselor.

If Tammy were an animal, she would be a bear or a wolf because she likes the quiet, and long relaxing walks. They are both pretty animals that know how to stand their ground!

Alaina McNeal

Alaina is our Pre-K Counts teacher! She started working at CCDC in February 2013, but she’s been working with kids for about 5 years. Alaina has a Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education from Penn State. In her spare time, Alaina enjoys creating art, spending time with her family, cooking, and reading. She loves working with children because they have an enthusiasm for life and learning, and Alaina loves to do art projects with them! If she didn’t work with children, Alaina would want to be an artist or a museum curator.

If Alaina were an animal, she would be an aardvark because they are nocturnal and they enjoy making messes!

Samantha Schrader

Sam is our Infant Room teacher. She began working at CCDC in August of 2011, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Mansfield University.  In her spare time, Sam likes to spend time outside with her family: husband Ray, and two girls: Peyton and Hayden.  She has many animals, including dogs, cats, and horses! Sam loves playing with chlidren and watching them grow and accomplish new things. If she didn’t work with children, Sam would like to work with horses for a living.

If she were an animal, Sam would be a horse because she loves them!

Nicole Chamberlain

Nicole is our Toddler Teacher, and she’s worked at CCDC since July of 2007! She holds an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Keystone College. In her spare time, Nicole likes to play with her son and spend time outside. She lives with her husband and son as well as a dog, cat, and lots of fish. Nicole loves working with children because every day is a new adventure! If she didn’t work with children, Nicole would want to work for the Game Commission.

If Nicole were an animal, she’d be a Polar Bear because she would like to live in the snow without getting cold.

Jennifer Hoyles

Jennifer is one of our Pre-K Aides, and she’s worked at CCDC since December of 2013. Jennifer has 30 years of experience with children! She lives with her husband, daughter, granddaughter, dogs, and fish. Jennifer’s family was joined by a new grandson in August 2014! She loves working with children because she loves talking to them and watching them grow. If she didn’t work with children, Jennifer would be an Interior Designer or a Florist.

If she were an animal, Jennifer would be a butterfly because they change throughout their lives.

Carolann Haines

Carolann is one of our Pre-K Aides, and she has worked at CCDC since March of 2010. Carolann has more than 20 years of experience in working with children, and she loves working with them because providing a safe, nurturing place for children to learn gives her a great sense of gratification! She considers it an honor to help mold young minds. Carolann has taken many classes, most recently completing requirements for her CDA. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. In her spare time, Carolann likes gardening, traveling, the beach, Zumba, and spending time with her children: daughter Victoria, and stepchildren Elizabeth & Ian. She has fish and a guinea pig, but Carolann would love to have a whole farm! If she weren’t working with children, Carolann would like to be the Owner/Director of a nature-based preschool child development center, where children would have daily experiences with Spanish, art, music, theatre, and science.

If Carolann were an animal, she would be an otter because she could be playful, be outside, and splash in the water all day.
